Brainstorm

This is a list that I made for myself as a brainstorming session. I am currently seeking ways to reach more guitar students. Maybe this list will help you as well.
  • Highlight your skills and downplay the areas in which you are lacking experience.
  • Practice social skills. Unfortunately, musicians need to learn how to wear an entrepreneurial hat.
  • Appearance matters. Try to appear professionally and be aware of how others perceive you, especially upon the first impression.
  • Make a list of places that you can advertise, and follow through with bringing flyers to these locations. Continue to develop these advertisements based upon the type of response or lack thereof that you receive.
  • Ask anybody and everybody for advice and ideas. Moreover, listen to this advice, and put it into action.
  • Don't forget to continue developing and practicing your skills. If you put all your time into advertising yourself, but clients aren't pleased with the job you do, all will be lost.

A New Title/Idea

The new title of this blog is, "Building a Guitar Career." As you might expect, future posts will now center around ideas in relation to establishing a career in music. The old postings relate to musical ideas in general and are rather self-involved in nature. It is my intention and hope that this blog will contribute in any small way to the daunting nature of finding ones path in life. I will post as often as possible. New posts will be about what I am doing or ideas that I have read or heard about on my path to a music career. Please, stay tuned.
